How To change the power of work blurring

Have you ever felt confused when it comes to your career? Maybe you've felt unsatisfied in your work, longed for some challenges, or knew you wanted to enter a inescapable profession or start a business, but just felt unsure about what to do. Whenever this topic comes up with my clients (as it has also come up for me), I've learned to consideration that it isn't verily about confusion, it's more about fear of success.

Do any of these fears join together for you? The fear of beginning something new, fear that you won't be able to measure up, fear of disappointing others that count on you, fear of not doing something right, fear that you're a fraud, and the biggie, fear that you Don'T Deserve It?

Downton Abbey

I don't think I know anything who hasn't experienced some form of fear when beginning a new occupation or beginning a business. It's natural. The question is when it stifles our energy, and leaves us living dull and disconnected from our purpose.

So how do we move past that fear and on into the success of our lives? We look for the coffee.

When I was a teenager, and would get so nervous the night before beginning a new job, my dad would all the time say to me, "By this time tomorrow you'll know where the coffee is." This was code for--you're scared because it's unknown, but you've got to verily go do it to get to the known. And he was all the time right. By the end of my first day, not only did I know where the employees got their coffee, but it was also all the time a good conversation starter to population I didn't know, "Could you please tell me where the coffee is? Oh, I take mine with just milk. No sugar, thanks." You get the idea.

Fear of turn keeps population from thriving, from evolving, from request for what they verily want, from reaching out to join together with others, from taking care of themselves, and from spellbinding themselves. You are the manager of your energy, and this equals the specialist of your life , which includes what you do for work and the level of your success.

Ok, so this sounds all good, right? But exactly How does one come to be the specialist of his or her success? Well, I'm what I like to call a "Get-It-Done-Gal." If I'm going to specialist anything (especially my life's work) I'm going to want to know some concrete steps I can take to do that. Now I know you're reasoning (maybe wishing?) that I'm about to try to pass on a magic bullet. Nope. What I am going to say is there are exact steps to take, but those steps aren't about expending your energy outward. Instead, those steps are about turning your energy inward. We've got to shift the inside to see the results on the outside.

Here's what you do:

Begin by identifying the former fear that's holding you back from manufacture a occupation turn or beginning a business. (Fear of beginning something new, fear that you won't be able to measure up, fear of disappointing others that count on you, fear of not doing something right, or, again, maybe the biggie, fear that you Don'T Deserve It...or possibly it's something else for you)

Look at your work history. Start with your first job. Write it down. (Don't just read; do. You'll get faster results. Trust me.) Continue the list from there. Now go back and mark what you did and did not like about each job and how long you stayed in each position. What map do you see in front of you?

Celebrate what you've done. Give yourself a big pat on the back for everything that you've experienced and achieved so far. Nothing is too small. Wahoo! Go you! Seriously. To energize your success, you want to start with acknowledging what you've done so far.

Accept the compliments of others. This is just as important as #3. If you want more energy and success in your occupation and business, you've got to be able to let it in! If you can't say "thank you" when man tells you they like your sweater, what makes you think you'll leave your energy open to accepting a large raise, bonus, or new, high-paying clients?

Track your commitment. Career, confusion, and fear of success, are great ways to talk around what you say you want, without having verily to do anything. It's important to check in with yourself. Do I verily want this? Take one week and track the number of times you think about/talk about manufacture this career/business change. What kind of energy is generated? Do you feel excited, but scared? Or, could you verily care one way or another?

Visualize your new career/business success. Take a look around you, right where you are this occasion reading this. Take everything in. Now, what would you like to be different? Close your eyes and see, and verily feel, what it would be like around you if you were thriving in your new career/business.

Reevaluate the limiting reliance or your fear. Is this fear who you are or maybe, just maybe, now that you've shed some light on it, not so superior after all? Is it possibly just a defense (again, it's natural to defend yourself when you're scared) or an excuse because you're verily happy to stay where you are, but feel pressured by others to want more--do more. The more open and honest we can be with ourselves about our fears, the less power they have, and the more energy we have ready to us actually, to make the change.

**Bonus** If you can't shake the fear, then Feel it, but act. Eleanor Roosevelt said, "You must do the things you think you cannot do." That's been my practice. (This can happen a lot as a self-employed professional. You never know what the day holds.) When I feel myself being stuck, I identify the fear, I take a breath-break, and then I do it. It ordinarily turns out just to be about the "unknown" and then I remind myself that I Now know where the coffee is.

So You Want to Join the Merchant Navy?

So you want to join the merchant navy as an officer? You've heard all those stories about being paid to visit foreign countries, haven't you? What about the girl in every port stories? And you must have been told about the sharp life we sailors lead, right? Are these stories true? Do you think you have it in you to sail the high seas? Well, I am here to tell you about the Real merchant navy - some of the stories you've heard are true, some are not. I have been pilotage for the past 30 years together with 13 years as Captain so I am giving you an inside view.

Before we begin, let me first expound something, the merchant navy isn't the same as the Indian navy. Merchant ships carry cargo as the name suggests, we are not the fighting navy. The cargo could be containers, oil, passengers, animals, bulk ore etc.

Downton Abbey

So what is the big attraction of the merchant navy? normally two things come to mind - money and foreign travel. There are other benefits like tax free income, quick promotions and an sharp life. But the good wage is the main temptation. You get fat pay checks and you don't pay tax (if you stay out of the country for more than 6 months in a financial year). You start earning a big wage at a very young age. To give you an example, the starting wage for a 22 year old 3rd officer or 4th engineer (junior most officers on board ships) on an oil tanker is more than 2000 $ per month (conservatively speaking). This whole depends on the type of ship and the company you join so don't quote me! Officers normally work on a covenant basis. Junior officers do 4-6 month contracts, while senior officers do 3 to 4 months on board. Some fellowships pay salaries round the year while others pay you only while you sail. However, your every year wage will remain the same. Why do ship owners pay you such high wages (relatively speaking)? There has to be a catch, right? The catch is, you stay away from home for extended periods of time. In fact you spend most of your time at sea rather than on land. Sure you get to visit foreign countries but things have changed now. Its not as if you reach a port and every person goes ashore.

Work continues with every officer / crew member working in shifts (watches as we call them). You are free to go ashore once you have completed your watch but don't forget that you have to come back from your shore leave and work again. So, you whether sleep or you go ashore. Work on a ship, never stops. As long as the ship is doing something - sailing, loading / discharging cargo, it's development money for the ship owner. Port stays have gone down considerably so the ship is in port for a short time. Of course, this depends on the type of ship you are on. Holder ships are in port for a few hours (Yes few hours), oil tankers for 24 hrs, cargo ships and bulk carriers stay longer in port. Watches in port are normally on a 6 on 6 off basis, 6 hours on duty, 6 hours off duty, and then you are back to work. Hence you cannot go ashore in every port because you need to rest sometime. The ship owner is paying you to stay on board, not to go ashore! Its not all bad news, you do get to go ashore and do some shopping and maybe sight seeing. Ports are normally far away from civilization. Travelling to and fro takes up time and is not cheap.

With visa restrictions post 9/11, many countries will not let you stay back for a holiday after you faultless your tenure on your ship. So now you know why the ship owner pays you so much. You are being paid for staying away from family and home, you are being paid for long stints at sea and hardly any opening to go ashore. By the way, the girl in every port stories you have heard are pure myths!!! You will not get time to meet girls and if you do meet girls then they will be the wrong kind. On the sure side, some fellowships do allow officers (usually senior officers) to carry their family (wife / kids) with them but not girl friends!

No problem you say, I can deal with everything, just as long as I get paid well. That's just fine, as long as you are aware of what you are getting into. Expect to work with a multinational crew. Expect multinational cuisine. Expect cultural differences, your Captain could be from U.K. While the other officers / crew could be from Philippines, India, Croatia, Bangladesh or some other country. This variety means that you may not have much in common with them. You might have to spend time alone in your cabin. Can you deal with being by yourself? Of course, it might be potential that you are lucky and you get along with everyone, in which case you will enjoy yourself soaking in the discrete cultures. Or you could be luckier and get to sail with a majority of your nationality. It all depends on the company you work for. While your free time time you can watch movies, play indoor games (cards, carom etc), work out in the gym (most ships have one) or just relax in your cabin. Most fellowships allow officers to send emails home and receive them. Of course, there are restrictions on the whole and size of emails after all, satellites are used for transmitting/receiving emails. You will get snail mail (conventional paper letters) when the ship touches port but normally not more than once a month. Lately, bigger fellowships offer internet facilities on board so sailors aren't as isolated as before. Mobile phone sims can be picked up locally as well so you can call home whenever you are in a port.

Now we come to work. Each type of ship requires specialised crew. Each agency on board a ship has separate duties - the deck agency looks after the pilotage and loading / discharging of cargo while the machine agency looks after maintenance of discrete machines. Life on board every ship is not the same. Some ships are old so you need to work harder to keep them running. Some ships are newer and are easier to work on. Oil tankers, gas carriers need extra training and experience. Holder ships and bulk carriers have similarly experienced crew. While at sea, officers commonly do 4 on 8 off - 4 hours duty and 8 hours off. This does not mean that after you quit your 4 hours of duty, you can go to sleep. No, you might have to work on other things like maintenance of machinery/equipment. normally officers and crew work 10 hour days. This is a normal statement and is not a hard and fast rule. Work loads increase considerably, when ships are in port. Officers and crew are on watches throughout the day and night. There is no weekend for them - there is no such thing as a social holiday. If one officer falls sick, then the other officers on board share his duties until he is fit again. normally ships do not carry doctors on board unless you are on a passenger ship. Ships carry medicines and all officers are trained for first aid / healing emergencies. Whenever ships touch port, healing treatment can be in case, granted ashore.

Another aspect to think about is the weather. Ships do run into bad weather (read storms). Even the biggest ship is but a toy when up against the fury of the sea. Sea sickness is not something to be scoffed at. Before you take up a career at sea you had better make sure that you don't get sea sick. Take a trip on a boat to get the feel of things.

Right...now you are aware of discrete aspects of the merchant navy, money, foreign travel, life on board, work and rest hours, healing facilities, weather etc. What? You still want to join the merchant navy? Bravo!! We need guys just like you - guys who join with their eyes open, guys who don't have wrong ideas about a career at sea. So how do you go about joining the merchant navy? information is ready on the net. In addition, you can keep an eye out for advertisements in major newspapers.

A word of caution, don't be in a hurry to hand over money to some agent who assures you of a job at sea. Check his credentials; check the credentials of the company or training institution you intend to join. Preferably, find someone who is already at sea and who can guide you. This is one profession where a mentor is always a good idea.

I have been pilotage for the past 30 years together with 13 years as Captain. To me the merchant navy is wonderful. It has given me all I dreamed of and wanted in life. Life on board ships isn't easy but its not as bad as it is made out to be sometimes. As there seem to be a lot of extreme views on this career, I have tried to give you the real picture. This is a serious profession where you have to work hard and your hard work pays (quite literally)!

So You Want to Join the Merchant Navy?

A Brief Introduction to London

London is the capital of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is situated in the southeast of England, sitting along the Thames River. The Inner London, the Outer London and the London City consist of the Greater London, which is the London we regularly talk about. It has an area of 1600 square kilometers with a people of 7.5 million. It is divided into 33 districts, and each city has a mayor, a parliament and a city hall.

This historic city was firstly built in the 43Bc by the Romans. In around 1st century Ad, under the rein of Rome, England has used the Thames River as the vital traffic line, and built the city construction along the banks of the Thames River. Even now people can see the ancient walls left by Rome. The ancient Romans dumped this city in the 5th century, and later Anglos, Saxons and Danish people all wanted to occupy this city. William the Conquer owned the city in 1060 which ended the fight. In 1087, William the 1st built the Tower of London in 1087, which is a well-known scenic spot all over the world.

Downton Abbey

12th and 13th centuries are highly prominent in the history of London, because London has the basic frame of government while this period, which lay the foundation for the victorious London in the Middle Age. The Westminster Abbey, the St. Paul's Cathedral and many law schools were built in this period.

It enjoys a glorious history in the 16th and 17th centuries, while which the culture and power of this nation had been improved a lot. Then, the Protestant Reformation, the peasant uprising, and the civil war happened one by one. The Black Death, and the fires and the breakout of the Second World War brought severe damage to this city. However, no matter what adversity it is facing, this city survived. Today, London lost its dominant status in the world, but it is still attracting people from home and abroad.

Many people get to know the tower of London, the St. Paul's Cathedral, the Buckingham Palace, and the British Museum, even though they have not been to London. I think everybody has a London of their own after visiting this place.

Lady Mary - Downton Abbey Inspired Hairstyle

Lady Mary - Downton Abbey Inspired Hairstyle Video Clips. Duration : 4.82 Mins.

As requested here is a Downton Abbey inspired hairstyle. I did a fair amount of research before trying to recreate her style. I tried to make it look as historically accurate as possible. Rats were commonly used to create fuller looking sides (which was helpful for supporting many popular hat styles). This style works best on hair that is slightly dirty, as slightly dirty hair holds better than freshly washed hair. I quite enjoyed doing this request so if anyone has anymore feel free to leave me a comment! Music: Mary - Paul Whiteman, Bing Crosby, Bix Beiderbecke Mary - Elizabeth Wheeler with Haydn Quartet

Anyway, I've become completely addicted to it, which means that I'm now watching 16 shows, which is so far beyond ridiculous that I'm ashamed of it. But I'm so glad I did, because otherwise I would never have been exposed to this epic, beautiful, EPIC couple! I love them so, so much, they're my favorite DA couple by far. In fact, they're one of my favorite couples EVER. I'm sure this scene has already been uploaded, but I don't care, I had to upload it myself, I had to. So excited for season three, and Sybil and Branson's baby! :D Clip from the TV show Downton Abbey, season two, episode seven. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED.

Downton Abbey - You Wait For Rain

Downton Abbey - You Wait For Rain Tube. Duration : 3.72 Mins.

This is a video about Downton Abbey, the wonderful ITV period drama written by Julian Fellowes, and starring an equally wonderful cast (Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, etc) I included most characters, and also focused on Mary/Matthew (played by Michelle Dockery/Dan Stevens), Sybil/Branson (Jessica Brown-Findlay/Allen Leech), and Anna/Bates (Joanne Froggatt/Brendan Coyle). I can't wait for series 2! :) The music is "You Wait For Rain" by Kyler England. Clips: Downton Abbey series 1 dvd Thank you very much for watching :)
