Best Movies of 2006

These are the best movies of 2006 in my opinion. The critics my have their opinion, but a lot of the time that does not match the audience. So here they are, the best movies of 2006:

V for Vendetta
After being a big Matrix fan, I was excited to see what the Wachowski brothers would do next. Although not quite the same caliber, V for Vendetta is a great movie with a great message and story. Even though V has a mask on the entire movie, you never get tired of looking at him, good mask choice.

Downton Abbey

Cars
In my opinion maybe the best of the Pixar's movies. I beyond doubt enjoyed this over any of the Toy Story movies. It's a hard warming story with great dialog along the way.

The Devil Wears Prada
My wife took me to this movie and I'll be honest, I didn't want to go. But Meryl Streep is so wicked and piquant (of course) with seemingly no effort. I beyond doubt enjoyed this one to my wife's surprise.

Little Miss Sunshine
I practically skipped this one but just kept hearing about it, so I opinion I great see what all the hoopla is about. A very funny, sad and touching movie. The family's quest to get Olive to the pageant is a true accomplishment given their very dysfunctional nature.

The Departed
Here's to Martin Scorsese for retention movies cool. How can you go wrong with Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg? My favorite movie of 2007. I am a very upfront Scorsese fan which started with Goodfellas. A Great story about an undercover cop portraying a gangster, and an undercover gangster portraying a cop. I think this movie show the true stress that would be involved in each of these situations, instead of glorifying them like other movies.

Some Indie Movies You Should Watch!

Indie movies can be very good. They are not all the time the most favorite but they can be some of the best movies and are worth the shot to watch. One of the highest rated Indie movies is Juno. It is about a youthful girl who gets pregnant. It is a cute story of love, friendship, and family. It is a lovable comedy all would be sure to enjoy.

Another high rated Indie comedy is the movie dinky Miss Sunshine. On the movie you effect a family as they take a road trip. It is much more than just the typical road trip stereotype. It is full of quaint characters and an amusing journey. To make the road trip even more unique they drive an old Vw hippie bus!

Downton Abbey

A more serious indie movie is Stranger Than Paradise. It was shot in thoroughly black and white. It is a story of two teenagers finding themselves in various parts of the United States. They trip all over the states and with the ironic twist they end up right back where they started at.

Indie movies may not be the most well known, or favorite at the box office but, they can be great movies none the less. They often have quirky characters that you will love and compelling story lines that are very memorable. You should find out when the next film festival is for small time directors and give the indie movie scene a shot. You will be very surprised about what movies you may find and love!

Rambo Movies in Order

The Rambo movies may be continuing without the actor who launched them. Sylvester Stallone recently announced his seclusion from the John Rambo character. However, there has been some conference that following the success of 2008's 'Rambo', that the studio may continue the Rambo movie franchise without him. With Stallone's involvement with the series seeing to be over, it is a good time to summarise his Rambo movies in order. Stallone has been complicated in all four movies that have been made so far, First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part Ii, Rambo Iii, and Rambo.

First Blood (1982):
The first of the 'Rambo' movies, First Blood, was based on the novel of the same name by David Morrell. It is sometimes known as 'Rambo: First Blood'. The film introduces the character John Rambo as played by Sylvester Stallone. It establishes Rambo as a Vietnam veteran who is trying to find his place in a community that doesn't want him. He clashes with Sheriff Teasle, who sees him only as a drifter he doesn't want in his town. He arrests Rambo, but post traumatic stress from his time as a prisoner of war causes Rambo to panic. He injures varied deputies and escapes. A man hunt ensues, where Rambo is revealed to be a killing machine, and the local police and volunteer army are no match for him. At last Rambo's mentor and old commander, Colonel Trautman shows up and convinces Rambo to surrender.

Rambo: First Blood Part Ii (1985):
John Rambo is in a prison labour camp for his crimes in First Blood. Colonel Trautman visits him and offers him the chance of a Presidential pardon in change for help documenting the existence of prisoners of war still in Vietnam. Instead of just photographing the prisoners, Rambo rescues one and the person in charge, Murdock, refuses to have him picked up in the helicopter and Rambo is captured. Rambo escapes, rescues all the prisoners and destroys all of Murdock's equipment. Afterwards he refuses to go back to America and walks off into the distance. Officially George P. Cosmatos directed Rambo: First Blood Part Ii, but it was revealed afterwards that Stallone positively had most of the directorial control.

Rambo Iii (1988):
Now John Rambo lives in Thailand and is once again visited by Colonel Trautman. Trautman is planning a mission delivering weapons to Afghanistan fighters in their war against the Russians. Rambo refuses as he has had enough of war. However, later he finds out that Trautman has been captured and so he goes in and successfully rescues him.

Rambo (2008):
In Stallone's last outing as John Rambo, the character is still in Thailand. Now he sells snakes to a settlement near the Burmese border. He At last agrees to take them into Burma on his boat, event though he believes no good can come from them taking healing supplies into the war torn region. He has stopped believing things can change. As with Trautman in Rambo Iii, he once again finds out the missionaries have been captured and goes in and successfully rescues two of them with the help of some mercenaries. At the end of the movie he ultimately returns to America, to a ranch that looks to be owned by his father.
